New Turbosound Speakes at India's 10 Lounge

10 Lounge is a new venture in Hyderabad, India. Narain Proaudio Lighting Pvt Ltd., designed and installed a Turbosound system of TCS Contracting loudspeakers at the venue. 10 Lounge is an up-market nightclub, aimed at a younger and higher-energy clientele with an international feel.

The install at 10 Lounge called for a Turbosound rig that would deliver high sound pressure levels at all frequencies, and so Oswin, the man behind Hyderabad-based rental company Hangar 18 Entertainment, who was instrumental in the system design and tuning, specified a combination of models from the TCS contracting series and the TXD series.

Turbosound's TCS series is a contracting-specific range of loudspeakers with features such as trapezoidal cabinets, rotatable Converging Elliptical Waveguides and a choice of dispersion options, IP54 and custom color options, complete rigging solutions, plus EASE data backup that make them well suited to permanent installations.

"With 10 Lounge planned to be the best club in the country," says Oswin, "I specifically advised Turbosound's TCS series of loudspeakers, whose crisp tonal quality was vitally important. Since we've being using Aspect TA-500t three-ways as part of our live rental inventory and their performance has been flawless, Turbosound was the first and only choice for the install."

The venue is laid out as a main room with seating at the rear, and additionally two VIP areas. Space for loudspeakers is fairly limited, and this primarily was the driving force behind the choice of the compact TCS and TXD cabinets.

A total of four wall-mounted TCS-122/64 biamped 12" two-ways (with 60-degree horizontal x 40-degree vertical dispersion) and two TCS-B218 subwoofers built into alcoves power the dance floor, with four TXD-12M passive 12" two-ways, four TCS-081 passive 8" two-ways, and two TXD-215 dual 15" subs being used as fills. There are also two PDRs each with two TXD-12Ms and one TXD-115 sub.

Turbosound's applications engineer Chris Kmiec was on hand to lend factory support and help oversee the installation. "Oswin has done a great job and the system sounds very good," he reports, "we are pleased to be part of the 10D culture. 10 Lounge will surely be among the best sounding clubs in India."

The result has drawn positive comments from the artists. DJ Rafsy commented: "The sound and light install was definitely of international standards." And DJ Jorn Van Deynhoven was equally impressed by the sound quality: "Audio tonal quality is fantastic," he said, "even when playing at really high levels."
