Emmylou Harris Celebrates at the Ryman with Bandit Lites

Emmylou Harris and the Nash Ramblers perform at the Ryman Auditorium with Bandit Lites.

Emmylou Harris and the Nash Ramblers took the stage at the fabled Ryman Auditorium in celebration of the anniversary of their original live recording of the Grammy-winning 1992 LP, At the Ryman, which took place in an effort to restore the crumbling "Mother Church." With the Ryman now fully restored, Harris and the Ramblers (Sam Bush, Jon Randall, Al Perkins, Larry Atamanuik, and Byron House) returned to the hallowed stage where they performed the album once again in its entirety, this time with a lighting package provided by Bandit Lites.

Lighting designer Bob Peterson supplemented the house lighting from the Ryman with Bandit Lites Philips Vari_Lite VL 3000 Spots, GLP X4S wash lights, along with an MA Lighting grandMA 2 lite console for control.

"I used the VL 3000 workhorses for three primary purposes: band and feature backlight, floor texture, and some low angle beam graphic," explained Peterson. "The wash lights lit scenic, an array of soft draperies, and picture frames. It was an elegant and simple statement."

Peterson paid careful attention to ensuring the lighting reflected the look of the original recorded concert 26 years earlier, moving focuses and beam only in black, and delivering looks that would only be possible with a conventional rig.

Peterson shared that the Bandit crew, including programmer Aaron Swetland, lighting director David "Gig" Butzler, and lighting technician Gabe Hodge were instrumental in the success.

"Bandit provided an awesome crew, who assisted me in all areas of the project, anything they could do to make the show better."
