7thSense Introduces S-Series, World's Smallest Uncompressed 8K Media Server7thSense announces the S-Series, an ultra-compact 8K media server designed for installations where space, power consumption, weight and noise must remain minimal while maintaining uncompromised performance. Barely larger than a paperback book, the S-Series delivers uncompressed 8K, multi-channel 4K and WUXGA playback from a device small enough to mount behind displays, inside kiosks or within exhibits. It is designed for both frame-based media sequences and generative real-time engines, supporting interactive, immersive and mixed media installations across themed entertainment, museums, live events and architectural displays. John Higgins, engineering director at 7thSense, says, "With S-Series, the objective was to bring the quality of uncompressed media to a wider audience. It is powerful enough for sophisticated projection mapped installations and LED displays yet compact enough to integrate into projects where traditional servers cannot. It provides a level of power and capability that far exceeds what its compact footprint suggests." The S-Series supports up to three channels of 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 at 60 frames per second; up to four channels of 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 at 30 frames per second; up to four channels of 4K 8-bit 4:2:2 at 60 frames per second; and up to four channels of WUXGA 10-bit 4:4:4 at 60 frames per second. Creators can combine movie playback, live capture, generative content and effects, with built-in warp and blend, multi-server synchronized playback, NDI preview and comprehensive external control. The series is said to deliver an exceptional level of performance while consuming less than 83W of power, which is remarkable for a server capable of driving four simultaneous 4K outputs. This level of efficiency places its power draw in the same range as an LCD display. The series is designed for museum exhibits and media-based attractions, projection mapping and LED walls, architectural LED displays, touring shows and live events, and interactive or generative installations. Ed Patchett, commercial director at 7thSense, explains: "Many customers require uncompromised image quality in spaces where larger servers cannot fit. The S-Series delivers outstanding playback capability in a form factor that can be carried in one hand." The S-Series is available now for specification and purchase.
