February 15th Deadline for Hemsley Lighting Programs Internship Applications

The Hemsley Lighting Programs is now accepting applications for the 2011 Hemsley Internship in Lighting.

Applications for the 28th annual Hemsley Internship Program with the New York City Ballet, New York City Opera, The Lincoln Center Festival, and Alvin Ailey are due by February 15, 2011. Interviews for finalists will be held in New York on March 26, 2011 in conjunction with the Hemsley Lighting Portfolio Review on March 27. Candidates should submit a resume, a one-page statement of personal goals and anticipated benefits from the internship, and three letters of recommendation.

The selected intern will begin in June 2011 and continue until the end of December 2011. The program provides the opportunity to work with professional companies in repertory and festival situations with resident and guest designers. Additional opportunities may include touring and media events. A monthly stipend is provided in addition to travel expenses.

Gilbert Hemsley dedicated his life to the training of young theatre professionals and beginning with the first intern in 1984, the Hemsley Lighting Programs has continued his legacy by offering a unique experience to young designers.
