Proel Axiom at the La Notte della Taranta Festival

More than 100,000 people crowded the square of Melpignano, Italy, for the closing concert of the latest edition of Notte della Taranta Festival, which comprised 13 concerts held in as many towns.

An Axiom system and Proel lighting were there to support the artists on stage. In 1998, the Union of Municipalities of Greek Salento, in Southern Italy, and the Diego Carpitella Institute conceived a festival for Salento's traditional music, pizzica, to take place in several towns in the province of Lecce, the Greek Salento.

Their idea was to organize a large concert in the area in which local folk music would mix ad mingle with other musical traditions, thus getting new life and experimenting a different way of composing contemporary music. Through the years that initial conception has evolved and earned its current national and international renown.

The team from GM Music, the audio and lighting service based in Salice Salentino that took care of the technical setup, chose Proel professional audio systems also for this edition of the festival. Gear included 12 Axiom 3210 modules, eight Edge 121SP subs, two Powersoft K Series power amp racks, eight Edge 15CXB monitors, four Edge 12CXP monitors, four Powersoft K3 monitors, six LED bars, and four Proel Tarkus 575 moving heads. "The audio system we chose and the configuration we opted for proved to be a versatile solution suitable even to this kind of music," says Giampaolo Tarantini, one of GM Music owners. "In particular, Axiom 3210 is a system we trust that proved to be highly reliable and extremely flexible for each of the concerts in the Festival. We are definitely satisfied with it."
