DiGiCo's SD8 Named Best Large Format Console Live Sound International Readers

The readers of ProSoundWeb and Live Sound International magazine have chosen DiGiCo's SD8 console as its favorite large-format console in the second annual Readers Choice Product Awards. In last year's competition, the newly launched SD8 also scooped the LSI award for new console mixer digital large format.

"We are again honored to receive this award," offered Digico's marketing director, Dave Webster, "which is all the more poignant as it comes from the readers of Live Sound International and ProSoundWeb -- who are among the daily in-the-trenches users of our consoles. DiGiCo intentionally creates our products to meet the demands of the market, keeping the targeted users always at the forefront and for that reason, the SD series consoles have become a rider standard. To be recognized by these people is truly a mark of distinction."

The SD8 combines the power, finesse and clarity of DiGiCo digital mixing with the company's proprietary Stealth Digital Processing --also found on its larger SD7 sibling -- combining the Super FPGA and Analog Devices Tiger SHARC FX engine chipsets. The company says this combination amasses the most powerful 40-bit floating point system at a welcomed price point with the ability to mix up to 120 inputs and 67 outputs from 240 inputs and 240 output connections on the systems network.

DiGiCo's SD8 has been embraced by integrators on installations ranging from cutting-edge nightclubs to houses of worship both large and small; on theatre productions including the recent Broadway hit, Rain - A Tribute to The Beatles, and on numerous tours with artists including Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, Smashing Pumpkins, Slash, Blues Traveler, and many others.
