Lift Turn Move Moves into New Headquarters

Just over six years after launching the company, John Jones and David King, co-founders of LTM is celebrating the grand opening of their new building as operations moved from their existing premises in Birkenhead last month to a new purpose-built production warehouse in Bromborough.

Still based on the Wirral, UK, this move marks a pivotal point in the history of LTM as several important improvements to both the physical production space and the operational procedures have been implemented alongside the move. "It was a crucial for us that we didn't just get a bigger building and keep going the same as before, but that we focused our efforts on trying to increase productivity within the company, which ultimately leads to better lead times for our clients and a better customer experience," says David King, operations director; "Our aim has always been to provide our customers with what they want, when they want it and at an affordable price, and this is a huge step towards ensuring that that happens every time."

One of the key features of the new building is the custom GIS light crane system for the workshop. As the UK agent for GIS Hoists, LTM is more than familiar with the benefits of the GIS track system and installing such a structure in the LTM workshop was high on the list of priorities.

The manual lifting and handling of hoists is not only strenuous work for staff and a potential health and safety risk, it's one of the major aspects of the previous production space that reduced productivity. The new GIS crane system means that staff will no longer have to lift hoists as everything from prepping, testing and packing will be handled via the GIS track system. "This is a major improvement for the guys in the work shop," notes Dave Ward, technical manager "This new streamlined process means that they can get through more hoists in a day with less lifting and bending involved - everybody wins."

There is also a greater capacity for stock now with the new warehouse being nearly twice the size of the previous building, so orders are turned around at speed, and with several freight companies just around the corner now, dispatching last-minute orders for customers who have been caught short on some loose rigging equipment is a cinch.

In addition to these warehouse improvements, the office staff has benefited too, from a bigger, better office with a new and improved VoIP phone system, a brand new dedicated server as well as general computer upgrades. There have also been a few new members of staff recently added to the team with more to follow in the coming months.
