Beats Give Back Makes Big Impact in Florida with Funktion-One SoundBeats Give Back, a nonprofit formed in 2023 to assist youths in foster care, recently held its first major fundraiser at Sheltair Aviation at Tampa International Airport, raising $8,000 to support a new music education studio at the Joshua House Foundation in Tampa Bay. The event featured Funktion-One sound from Nomad Sound Systems. "My journey has always been rooted in music, and Beats Give Back is a natural extension of that because it uses music to uplift and empower the next generation," says founder and president Manny Lopez. "We've seen firsthand how even a few guitar lessons can change a child's outlook. In many cases, it's a lifeline." More than 1,000 people turned out for the fundraising event, headlined by DJs Beltran and Chase West. It was produced by the Beats Give Back and House Hats teams, plus Sheltair Aviation. "I personally requested Funktion-One," says Lopez. "It's a gold standard in audio and something I try to make a staple for events of this scale. Having that quality of sound elevates the entire experience, and Nomad brought it to life seamlessly." Nomad Sound Systems drew from its extensive Funktion-One inventory -- one of the largest in the US -- to design and deploy a system tailored to the unique demands of the venue. "The aircraft hangar was an expansive space, so achieving full sound coverage was critical," says Nomad's director of operations Leo Eckers. The audio specialists deployed six Evo 7T loudspeakers in three-wide configurations and 16 F121 bass enclosures, plus two Res 2 loudspeakers for front fill. DJ monitoring was handled by a pair of PSM318s and eight F101s were used for VIP and stage fill areas. "Funktion-One loudspeakers are engineered for high-fidelity audio reproduction," says Eckers. "When coupled with appropriate amplification and processing, and in close collaboration with promoters such as House Hats and Beats Give Back, who feature accomplished DJs playing high-quality music, the resulting sensory experience is truly exceptional and difficult to surpass." While the fundraiser generated crucial funds, Lopez was also pleased with the additional benefits. "The exposure was massive," he says. "Beats Give Back has been grassroots from day one, but after the event, we saw a huge spike in community engagement. People want to get involved. We're already planning the next event and expanding our programs. This was just the beginning."
