Kinetic is First Lighting Company in Southern California to Add VARI*LITE VL880 to Rental Inventory

Kinetic Lighting has added the new Philips Vari*Lite VL880 Spot luminaire to its rental inventory, becoming the first lighting company in Southern California to do so. The move comes shortly after Kinetic added VL3000 and VL3500 fixtures to its rental stock.

"The VL880 Spot fills a void for us in the moving light category," explained Kinetic's president, David Rosen. "Demand has been strong for a fixture that was brighter than mid-range alternatives, but without the size and weight of larger units. And from the standpoint of rental flexibility, the VL880 auto-ranging power supply is huge for us."

Fitted with the revolutionary Philips Platinum 35 eight-hundred-watt lamp, the VL880 Spot has an output of 19,000 lumens and utilizes a CYM color mixing system that produces deep, saturated blues, magentas, and reds, the company says. The color system also includes an eight-position interchangeable dichroic color wheel. The fixture contains a seven-position interchangeable rotating gobo wheel plus a 10-position interchangeable fixed gobo wheel. Other features consist of a 15 -- 36 degree zoom range, independent frost filter, CTO color correction filter, coated glass dimmer wheel, dual blade strobe system, iris, independent five facet prism, and auto-ranging power supply. The unit weighs 56 lbs.

"As we continue to ship all the latest VARI*LITE luminaries to our worldwide network of dealers, we are excited to see what Kinetic Lighting has in store for their VL880 Spot luminaires," said Bob Schacherl, Philips Vari-Lite vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. "With Kinetic Lighting's rich, diverse background in the live event industry, along with their dedication to provide the ideal lighting solution for their clients, the VL880 Spot luminaire will be a perfect addition to their Vari-Lite inventory."
