Jam Industries Co-Chairman, Eddy Shenker Passes Away

Jam Industries Ltd. announces the passing of Eddy Shenker, co-chairman and partner in the company since 1974. Shenker died on Monday, June 11, 2012, after a short battle with cancer.

After graduating from Concordia University with a commerce degree, Shenker went on to McGill while working with Ernst & Young to become a certified public accountant (CPA). After four years at the CPA firm, he went into industry in 1967 to become vice-president, administration and finance of a large manufacturing company with over 500 employees. Shenker then joined Jam Industries at the beginning of 1974 as vice-president and partner.

A major figure in the music industry, Shenker was respected, admired, and loved by those who knew him. He was recently presented with a prestigious Lifetime Achievement award by the MIAC Association for his many years of positive influence on the Canadian music industry. Founded in 1972, Shenker contributed greatly in building Jam Industries Ltd. into a unique distribution network made up of 13 Canadian and US divisions serving markets segments from musical instruments, professional audio/lighting, to consumer electronics, with over 500 employees and sales exceeding $225 million. Throughout 38 years of incredible company growth, Shenker strived to maintain a very personal relationship with Jam's suppliers and many of Jam's dealers. He had a similar approach within Jam, with an open door policy welcoming anyone in the company to walk into his office and chat. His statesman and balanced perspective will be missed by friends and colleagues around the world.

Shenker is survived by his wife Fran, two children, Brian and Robert, and five loving grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, June 13th. Arrangements can be followed at the URL below.
