TJ Smith, Harman Professional

Harman Professional has appointed Timothy (TJ) Smith to lead its signal processing business unit. In this role Smith will oversee all aspects of the BSS Audio, dbx, Lexicon Professional, and DigiTech brands. He will be based in the company's Sandy, Utah offices and report directly to John Fitzgerald VP and general manager of Harman Professional, signal processor/amplifier business units.

Smith joined Harman Professional in 2000 and has been appointed to increasingly senior positions, most recently serving as senior director, China operations where he was responsible for new product development, engineering, and all general business activity for Harman Professional's China office.

"In making this appointment, Harman Professional is drawing on our considerable base of internal talent," Fitzgerald said today. "By promoting TJ Smith, we're putting a proven leader with deep market experience, strong technology expertise, and a keen understanding of customer needs in charge of an important business unit and providing him with a broad but clear mandate for innovation, integration, and growth."

Commenting on his new role, Smith stated, "I look forward to the opportunity to lead the signal processing business unit. We have a strong team in place and I am excited about strengthening this business unit and Harman Professional's position as market leaders, especially in the rapidly growing installed and networked audio markets."

Smith holds a bachelors degree in engineering from Oral Roberts University and an MBA from Indiana University, South Bend.
