K.C. Hooper, Apollo Design Product Specialist, Passes Away

Apollo Design product specialist K.C. Hooper passed away on the morning of December 12 due to complications from cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Jody (née Kanner), and three sons: Kaulin, Kauner, and Kaury.

Hooper was a fixture at trade shows for Apollo Design, displaying products recently at LDI 2012 in Las Vegas and LDI 2011 in Orlando. He served as panel moderator at the USITT exhibitor session "Seeing in Color! Finding Your Way Through Wonderland" in March 2011. Hooper spent 22 years at Arizona State University as the technical director and lighting director before moving to Rosco Labs as an account executive. He was a guest lecturer at numerous theatres, film productions, and university conferences. He wrote for several industry publications and made significant contributions to the field of product development.

"KC's patience with teaching products and concepts from our industry was invaluable. I learned so much from him over the years. I truly enjoyed our many conversations about our children," says Apollo Design marketing specialist Melissa Irk.

In a post on the Apollo Design website, many friends and colleagues discussed Hooper's calm demeanor as well as his openness during project development. They also discussed his interests in technology, football, food, and above all his devotion to his wife and children.

"We all know how much KC talked about his love for hamburgers, but actually he talked about his family more. He always had great stories of his wife and boys," says sales lead Brett Zellers. "I know KC was loved by many. He was such an easy person to be a friend with. He was a man of many electrical gadgets and big boy toys. I am going to miss our weekly chats."

Services were held December 14 at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
