Philips Vari-Lite Offers an Interactive Experience at USITT

At USITT 2013, Philips Vari-Lite (Booth # 920) is offering visitors a truly interactive experience while showcasing its new 1500W automated luminaires and debuting individual cell control for the popular VLX Wash. With interactive control stations connected to each of the products on display, visitors will be able to see firsthand how Vari-Lite luminaires allow them to truly experience creative freedom.

"USITT is a unique show that we always enjoy participating in," says Brad Schiller, Philips Vari-Lite product marketing manager. "This year we are bringing some very exciting products with us, plus we will debut a brand new technology for the VLX Wash that allows for the individual cell control of all seven LED light engines. As our main goal is to give creative freedom to lighting designers of all ages, we are very excited to see how visitors interact with the luminaires on display, and it's going to be a fun show."

Based on the success of the individual cell control within the VLX3 Wash, Philips Vari-Lite will host the North American debut of newly released software for the VLX Wash luminaire at USITT 2013. The new software allows for individual control of the seven 120W RGBW LED engines and a multitude of stunning looks and chases can now easily be created on the face of the fixture, further enhancing the creative possibilities of the industry leading LED luminaire.

The VL3015LT Spot luminaire provides an unprecedented 42,000 lumens of output from a highly-reliable 1500W Osram double-ended short arc lamp and also offers an unmatched 10:1 zoom optics system. Complete with CYM color mixing, a variable CTO wheel, two five-position color wheels, three gobo/effects wheels, a beam size iris, a separate dimmer, ultra-fast strobe mechanisms, a standard palette of gobos, effects, and colors, the VL3015LT Spot also contains an independent rotating and indexing three-facet prism as well as an independent frost glass. The zoom range of 6 - 60 degrees allows for use in a multitude of applications from stadiums to theatres. An optional handle attachment allows the fixture to be used as manually positioned followspot while retaining DMX control of all other functions.

Also using the double-ended Osram 1500W lamp, the VL3015 and VL3515 Spot luminaires feature a 6:1 zoom optics system along with CYM color mixing, a six-position color wheel, variable CTO color temperature correction, gobo/effects wheels, and ultra-fast strobe mechanisms. The VL3515 Spot luminaire has an added feature of a four-blade shutter mechanism that allows the blades to be operated independently or in unison for a clear and crisp image, while both luminaires house standard dual reflectors that allow users to choose between either a peaked or flat field beam. In the peaked beam, the fixtures provide 27,000 lumens of output, and in the flat field beam they both provide an output of 22,000 lumens. The reflectors are easily changed, and whichever one is not chosen rides securely inside the luminaire on a specially designed mount.

As a leading designer and manufacturer of premiere automated lighting systems, Philips Vari-Lite provides equipment and services to the entertainment industry, serving such markets as concert touring, theatre, television, film, cruise lines, houses-of-worship, and corporate events. Vari-Lite automated lighting systems are available through a worldwide network of independent professional dealers.
