Indian Performer Sunitha Sarathy Signs On As A Harman AKG Endorsee

Sunitha Sarathy

Harman India announces that it has signed vocalist and performer Sunitha Sarathy as an AKG endorsee. Based in southern India, Sarathy possesses a voice of uncommon beauty and depth of feeling and is equally at home performing Indian contemporary music, western classical music, and other western styles and in church choirs as a gospel singer.

In 2000, Sarathy won the "Virgin Voice Choice" contest sponsored by Virgin Records and Channel [V] India, taking first prize over 45,000 other contestants. Her professional career took off after singing the full-length solo song "Thoodu Varuma" for the blockbuster Tamil film, Kaakha Kaakha in 2003. She has since contributed to more than 350 Indian films and is also accomplished as a percussionist and keyboard player performing Western classical, soul, jazz, and other styles.

Sarathy uses the AKG C5 professional vocal condenser microphone for live performance and the C414 XL II reference multi-pattern condenser mic for recording. "I love the AKG C5 and C414 XL II for their sonic purity, warmth, and presence," said Sarathy. "I know I can depend on the C5 to deliver outstanding sound anywhere I perform, night after night, and it sounds exceptionally rich and detailed."

"I can hear why the C414 XL II has become such a classic recording studio mic," Sarathy continued. "It captures all of my vocal nuances and dynamics. I am always thrilled to hear a playback after singing through the C414."

"We are thrilled to have Sunitha Sarathy come on board as an AKG endorsee," said Ankush Agarwal, director- marketing and business development, Harman Professional India. "She is the first female solo vocalist to join the roster of international artists who endorse AKG in India, and this move reflects our commitment to associate with a wide variety of Indian musicians, artists and genres." Other Indian AKG band and artist endorsees include Soulmate, Sivamani, Niladri Kumar, and Ranjit Barot.
