Artistic Licence Launches artLynx quad

Artistic Licence's artLynx quad

Lighting controls specialist, Artistic Licence, announces its next generation of Ethernet-to-DMX gateways. Based on a more powerful chip technology, the range provides full support for the award-winning Art-Net 4 protocol.

Leading the way is artLynx quad, a DIN rail mounted product that converts Art-Net (all releases) or sACN to four DMX universes. RDM is additionally supported when used with Art-Net. artLynx quad supercedes the previous Art-Lynx O/P product. With double the number of outputs and new features, the company says "artLynx quad is set to become a market leader."

At the heart of the product, an order of magnitude increase in processing power allows artLynx quad to operate effortlessly on networks with congested broadcast data. All outputs are protected from accidental electrocution by any international mains voltage (including UK 3-phase, 415 VAC continuous connection). The electrical protection is "self healing," so the product can continue to be used.

Other handy new features include a readily accessible factory reset switch, and a "squawk" function that allows the physical location of the product to be easily matched to its listing on the network display. An improved, faster internal web server facilitates easy configuration, and the product's compatibility with Artistic Licence's free DMX-Workshop software allows users to take advantage of the full suite of Art-Net 4 features.

A two-output version, artLynx duo, is planned for release later this year.

artLynx quad features include:
* Art-Net to four DMX/RDM universes or sACN to four DMX universes
* Order of magnitude increase in processing power allows product to operate effortlessly on networks with congested broadcast data
* Self-healing protected outputs guard against electrocution from all international mains voltages (up to 425 VAC continuous connection)
* 10BaseT and 100BaseT Ethernet port (RJ45) with support for DHCP
* Power: PoE or DC input (9V to 48V)
* Factory reset switch (hold down and cycle power) and squawk feature
* RDM enable per output
* Power, network, and DMX activity LED indicators
* Improved and faster web-server for configuration
* Compatible with free DMX-Workshop software allows users to take advantage of full suite of Art-Net 4 features
* RDM Integrity ready

In a major new development, Artistic Licence incorporates support for RDM Integrity in its next generation Ethernet gateways, starting with artLynx quad. RDM Integrity is a software product from Benjamin Electric Co. designed for testing RDM compliance. The product is targeted at manufacturers and developers wishing to ensure that their products are compliant before being placed on the market. It provides a simple pass, advisory, warning or fail assessment, along with decoded data that allow quick identification of any problems.

Customers who have purchased RDM Integrity can use artLynx quad to unlock its powerful RDM and Art-Net testing capabilities.

Artistic Licence will be exhibiting at PLASA Focus Leeds, May 9 - 10, in stand N-B31. Visitors to the stand can find out in more detail about the next generation Ethernet gateway products. Additionally, Artistic Licence's "Superhero Splitters" will be on display, featuring enhanced electrical mains protection for use in the toughest environments.

For technical enthusiasts, Artistic Licence CEO, Wayne Howell, will be demonstrating RDM Integrity over Art-Net at Plugfest, Gatwick Manor, April 26 - 28.
