Outer Critics Circle Awards Nominations Announced

The nominations are out for this year's Outer Critics Circle Awards, honoring achievement in the New York Theatre. Leading the way with 11 nominations is A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, followed by Aladdin with eight, Fun Home with seven, Rocky with six, and After Midnight, Beautiful, and Twelfth Night with five each. Other multiple nominees include Bullets Over Broadway and Machinal with four apiece; Cabaret, The Glass Menagerie, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Les Misérables, Stage Kiss, Violet, and The Winslow Boy, with three nominations each.

In the category of outstanding set design, nominees are Christopher Barreca for Rocky, Beowulf Borrit for Act One, Bob Crowley for Aladdin, Es Devlin for Machinal, and Alexander Dodge for A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder.

The nominees for outstanding lighting designer are Kevin Adams for Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Howell Binkley for After Midnight, Paule Constable for Les Misérables, Natasha Katz for Aladdin, and Philip S. Rosenberg for A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder.

Costume design nominees include Gregg Barnes for Aladdin, Lindo Cho for A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, William Ivey Long for Bullets Over Broadway, Jenny Tiramani for Twelfth Night, and Isabel Toledo for After Midnight.

The Outer Critics Circle does not give awards for sound or projection design.

The winners will be announced on Monday, May 12 and the annual awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 22 at Sardi's Restaurant.
