David Weiner, Todd Rosenthal Among Ovation Award Winners

The winners of the 2011 Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Awards were announced at a ceremony on November 14 at the Orpheum Theatre in LA. The awards honor achievement in the city's theatre scene.

Among the design winners, Christopher Kuhl took the award for lighting design in an intimate theatre, for How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found, at the Theatre @ Boston Court. In the category of lighting design for a large theatre, David Weiner, won for Venice, staged at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, part of the Center Theatre Group.

The award for scenic design at an intimate theatre went to Joel Daavid, for Skeleton Stories, staged at Theatre of NOTE; Todd Rosenthal won the award for scenic design in a large theatre for Twist -- An American Musical, staged a Pasadena Playhouse.

Alyssa Ishii won the award for sound design in an intimate theatre, for Awake, staged at Bootleg Theatre. Joshua Horvath was cited for sound design in a large theatre, for Venice.

And in the category of costume design for an intimate theatre, the winner was A. Jeffrey Schoenberg, for The Malcontent, at The Antaeus Company. Emilio Sosa's designs for Twist won in the category of costume design for a large theatre.
