CADAC Celebrates Success at PLASA

CADAC literally cut the cake in celebration of major accomplishments at this year's PLASA exhibition, marking return to the show for the great heritage mixer company. Cadac's management was unequivocal in its appraisal of the company's presence at the show. Head of marketing Patrick Almond stated: "This is the most successful PLASA show for Cadac in years; perhaps the best ever."

The launch of the company's new digital sound touring console, the CDC Eight, was among the most heavily attended events of the show floor, the company says. Press, distributors, dealers, customers, and Cadac aficionados crowded onto the company's stand for a glimpse of what was universally acclaimed to be the most advanced live mixer design for many years. Most immediate was the revolutionary "high agility" interface, comprising two 24" 16:10 high-definition LCD touch screens, with a further centre located 6" LCD touch screen accesses the system control and automation. A design feature that prompted sales development manager Vincenzo Borrelli to claim in his launch presentation that the desk was operable by anyone "who had ever used an iPad and an analog mixer."

The high definition touch screen graphics of the GUI, and rapid accessibility and fluidity of the control interface, reinforced Cadac's claim that this was a desk designed around an operating system "truly of its time". Project leader and head design engineer Peter Hearl confirmed that the design team had also gone to extraordinary lengths in ensuring the CDC Eight was a true Cadac console in every respect.

Commenting on industry reaction to the new desk, Borrelli stated, "The CDC Eight attracted the most wonderful comments and compliments from professional engineers, installers, theatre technicians and the many Cadac enthusiasts at PLASA. It was the subject of a lot of attention throughout the show, particularly from other desk manufacturers; something that is especially complimentary. Indeed, reaction to the entire new product range, including the CDC Four digital and Live1 and S Type analog desks, was astonishingly good; the feature sets and quality we were able to demonstrate clearly hit the right note. Overall, we had a fantastic PLASA, and CADAC is once again a name on people's lips."

DSP engineer on the CDC Eight design team, Emily Watson, also designed and baked the CDC Eight cake presented to Soundking Group president, Mr. Wong, at the launch of the new desk.

Cadac also announced the appointment of CUK Audio as exclusive UK distributor for its sound touring and installation series desks. "Cadac is embarking on an exciting development phase," stated Borrelli. "CUK Audio sits precisely where we need to be in the market to develop our business in live sound, hire and fixed installation applications, where the new console range offers significant advantages and advanced performance over the competition. Ensuring our distribution delivers this with the highest level of service and support is a key part of our strategy. With their technical competence and synergetic brands, CUK Audio is an ideal partner."
