publitec Germany Announced as Latest d3 Rental Partner

Herdecke, Germany-based AV rental house publitec is announced as the latest rental partner to d3 Technologies. Specializing in innovative system integration and technical services, publitec has invested in several d3 pro range systems for the rental market.

publitec's experience comes not only from renting out products, but from using them directly through the comprehensive technical services they offer. The company says this has given it the advantage over the years of knowing exactly what works, and what doesn't when it comes to technical innovation.

"We can make much better decisions and develop new ideas based on our own experience," says André Fürle, head of publitec's content competence center (C3), which was established to combine the technical skills of AV technicians with the creative work of content creation and adaptation in order to ensure the best solution for the client.

"The use of media servers has always been an important business for us. They are not only an important tool to fulfill a variety of presentation tasks for our clients at live events or trade shows, but our customers also ask for special brands for special tasks," Fürle continues.

The decision to add d3 to their growing product portfolio was a well-considered one, again coming from long-time experience in event and show production. Seeing d3 integrates a full production workflow from concept design to delivery, the company says it fits with publitec's C3 approach.

Fürle adds to this: "Projection mapping has played an increasingly big role for us over the past year. We've gained much know-how in the field of 3D modeling and corresponding mapping techniques in pre-production. As such we've managed complex projections on 3D surfaces with our 2D-based server systems, but you can only do that up to a certain point."

"What we really needed was the flexibility of being able to do last-minute changes, as well as more complex set ups with mapped moving objects. This was not possible without a continuous, realtime based 3D workflow. d3 is the only product for us that precisely reflects this workflow seamlessly, from scratch to final result and especially without compromising creativity."

publitec will put their new d3 systems to work straight away: from providing technical services to complete solutions including content creation, the company is already getting in requests to work with d3. As the latest family member in their media server family, d3 will also be introduced during publitec's annual visualounge onStage congress in March 2015.

Summing up publitec's decision to choose d3, Fürle mentions: "For us, d3 is our new favorite system when it comes to complex or mixed video surfaces or 3D mapping. The d3 system simplifies some processes extremely, and is really flexible in many ways, precisely because it is a 'real' real-time system which is right at home in the real three-dimensional world. In short, I'd say d3 is intelligent, powerful and motivating."
