AVANTE Audio Akro ATS218 Dual 18" Sub Now Shipping Worldwide AVANTE Audio's new Akro ATS218 active subwoofer is now shipping worldwide. Designed as a low-frequency partner to the Akro ATL328 line array module, it is billed as delivering deep bass extension, impressive output, and precision control in a rugged, touring-grade enclosure. The product features two high-output 18" woofers, tuned via an oversized port to achieve exceptional efficiency and extended low-frequency performance, the company says, to deliver a linear phase frequency response of 32Hz - 120Hz (-6dB), with a maximum SPL of 14dB. A Class D switching amplifier delivers 4,800W of peak power, supported by a PFC power supply. A 96kHz DSP with FIR filtering provides advanced crossover management and tonal shaping; protection features include peak limiting, thermal safeguards, and short-circuit monitoring. The ATS218 is Milan-certified, allowing for seamless integration into modern networked audio environments. With support for both analog and digital inputs, the system can be monitored and controlled remotely through AVANTE's Akro-Command software on Windows or Mac. "The ATS218 is the result of years of R&D work for AVANTE Audio, which involved worldwide collaboration," explains Rob Lang, AVANTE Audio's European R&D specialist. "The subwoofer was designed in the USA, tuned in one of Europe's most prestigious audio labs, and features premium German-made DSPs. We are particularly excited that the ATS218 is Milan-certified, providing easy and reliable network connectivity within a rapidly expanding pro audio ecosystem. AVANTE Audio is proud to be a Milan associate member, working in collaboration with other leading professional audio brands to provide sound engineers with reliable and comprehensive networking between equipment from different manufacturers." The ATS218 features a CNC-machined birch plywood enclosure finished with a tough black polyurea coating; it is protected by a powder-coated, galvanized steel grille. Integrated EZ-Link locking hardware securely connects cabinets for array configurations, while multiple rigging points and interlocking feet provide flexibility for stacking or flying. IP-rated locking power connectors and a supplied rain cover for the amplifier connections ensure the ATS218 can perform reliably in all conditions. "From the beginning, we designed the ATS218 to combine power with precision," comments Tony Mirador, product engineer for AVANTE Audio. "It delivers deep, authoritative bass but also gives engineers the tools they need to shape and control it. With its Milan-certified networking and premium DSP, it integrates seamlessly into today's connected audio systems, while its rugged construction ensures it can withstand the demands of professional touring." The company says the ATS218 and Akro ATL328 line array module form a complete system solution, scalable for a wide range of medium-to-large-scale entertainment applications. The ATL328 delivers power and clarity in the mid and high ranges, while the ATS218 extends performance into the sub-bass frequencies. Both models are Milan-certified, allowing them to receive digital audio-over-IP (AoIP) in Milan networks, while the Akro Command software allows them to be networked, monitored, and controlled as a unified system.
