New ETCP Online Training to be Offered by ETC

ETC is launching four new ETCP recognized courses that can be taken to provide points towards the continuing education requirement for ETCP renewals. Each class takes about an hour to complete and one credit will be issued per course. "We're excited to offer a new set of resources to our growing number of customers," says ETC class creator, David Fox.

The classes include:

* DMX Theory Operation and Troubleshooting -- This intermediate level course covers the history of the DMX standard, signal architecture, and troubleshooting techniques. These six video chapters are for people with a fundamental knowledge of DMX as it relates to basic wire connections and data paths, as well as patching and addressing of devices.
* Networking Fundamentals -- An introduction to computer networking for entertainment and architectural lighting systems. Learn network wiring practices, review common devices, and learn troubleshooting techniques.
* Troubleshooting Techniques -- This class is designed for anyone wanting to learn more about how to efficiently diagnose and solve technical problems in today's theatrical systems.
* System Maintenance -- This beginner level class presents best practices for cleaning and maintaining consoles, power control systems, and fixtures to prevent problems before they happen.

These four classes are the first in what ETC hopes to be a long list of online educational offerings.

"I am extremely excited to see these courses come to fruition, as it will serve greatly in assisting our very busy certificants by offering the opportunity to complete training when it is convenient for them," stated, Meredith Moseley-Bennett, ETCP certification manager. "Many are challenged by location or cost and this will go a long way towards helping them achieve the ten points necessary to recertify."
