Nationally Recognized Entertainment Structures Group Absorbed by Schaefer

Today, Schaefer absorbs Entertainment Structures Group (ESG), a nationally recognized structural engineering division for the entertainment market. ESG thrived for the past 15 years engineering structures for some of the biggest names in entertainment including Taylor Swift, Elton John, and Cirque du Soleil.

Schaefer will support and grow its entertainment business more efficiently with streamlined services and communications, and with a focus on one strong brand with a diverse service offering. Formally branding ESG as Schaefer allows the firm to continue to put customers first and delight them with solid work and creative structures that support what's next in an envelope-pushing industry.

"Rebranding ESG as Schaefer allows us to continue the same great service, but to more efficiently support and pursue entertainment projects. Nothing will change for our current ESG clients; the same engineers will answer client calls and design the structures. Schaefer clients who might not have known about our entertainment division now have the opportunity to take advantage of our experience for their next project," remarked Greg Riley, Schaefer vice president and ESG leader.

"We're making this move because we believe we will be a stronger firm under one name." ESG began in 2002 with a group of Schaefer employees who were passionate about special and temporary structures, theaters, and rigging. Because the entertainment market requires unique strategies and skillsets, Schaefer spun off the division into its own entity in order for the group to focus time and effort on growing ESG's experience, service offerings and market share.

Even though ESG was promoted separately, it has always been a part of Schaefer -- sitting in the same offices and sharing the same water coolers. Some structural engineers design for both ESG and Schaefer projects. Some notable ESG projects: Cincinnati School for Creative & Performing Arts (Schaefer and ESG collaboration), Final Four concert stages since 2013, Hot Wheels Double Loop Dare, Fox's The Passion, and Dallas Cowboys AT&T Stadium Flash Mob Video Display.
