Global Scenic Services Announces Two Broadway Contracts

James Malski, president of Global Scenic Services, Inc., a fabricator of theatrical scenery, based in Bridgeport, Connecticut, announced that this Fall the company is building the sets for two Broadway productions: Bruce Springsteen's Broadway debut at the Walter Kerr Theatre, Springsteen on Broadway; and the American premiere of the award winning London play The Children by Lucy Kirkwood, at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, a production of the Manhattan Theatre Company (MTC).

Malski says, "The set for Bruce is beautifully designed by Heather Wolensky with scenic treatment by Scenic Art Studios, of Newburgh, NY, to create an environment for him to tell his story and create an intimate relationship with the audience."

Springsteen on Broadway, a solo performance show, began on October 3, 2017, with the official opening on October 12, 2017. Springsteen will perform five shows a week in an extended engagement through February 3, 2018.

MTC selected Global Scenic to build a new box set for The Children which opened to acclaimed reviews at The Royal Court Theatre, in London, last season.

Malski says, "All of us at Global are proud to be working with MTC again, and with the acclaimed scenic and costume designer Miriam Buether, and her team, to help bring this great show to Broadway."

The Children is being directed by James MacDonald, and will include the original Royal Court Theatre cast of BAFTA Award winner Francesca Annis, Olivier Award nominee Ron Cook, and Olivier Award winner Deborah Findlay. The Children will start previews November 28, 2017, and will open on December 14, 2010, with a run until April 30, 2018.
