Two ESTA Draft Standards in Public Review

Two documents are still available for public review at http://estalink.us/pr, and the review is free. In order of comment closing date they are:

BSR E1.6-1, Entertainment Technology -- Powered Hoist Systems -- This standard establishes requirements for the design, manufacture, installation, inspection, and maintenance of powered hoist systems for lifting and suspension of loads for performance, presentation, and theatrical production. This standard does not apply to the structure to which the hoist is attached, attachment of loads to the load carrying device, systems for flying people, welded link chain hoists, and manually powered hoists. Comments are due no later than 19 February 2018.

BSR E1.46, Standard for the Prevention of Falls from Theatrical Stages and Raised Performance Platforms -- BSR E1.46, Standard for the Prevention of Falls from Theatrical Stages and Raised Performance Platforms, has been offered for public review. The standard provides guidance on fall protection appropriate to stages and other raised performance platforms. This is a revision of the existing E1.46 standard, made necessary by changes to the OSHA regulations dealing with fall protection on theatre stages.

For more information, please contact ESTA's Technical Standards Program managers Karl Ruling or Erin Grabe at standards@esta.org or 1-212-244-1505.
