Green Hippo Expands Its Team

Merecedes Stevao-Boase and Estelle Chung

Green Hippo introduces Mercedes Stevao-Boase as a new member of the marketing team. Mercedes joined Green Hippo in the role of marketing executive and she will be responsible for increasing the brands online presence via numerous social media platforms and other tools.

Asked why she wanted to work for Green Hippo Mercedes explained: "When I first saw the advert for this job I realized it combined a number of different interests that I love. Going through the interview process the atmosphere of the office was brilliant. Everyone genuinely loved the product, what they did and their team, and you could see it from the way they spoke. It's something I felt I had to be a part of and being able to do what I love in such a nice environment, with the best in the industry just sealed the deal for me."

Mercedes has a BA (Hons) in arts and event management and previous experience in the event industry. With a love of festivals and live events, she has been involved in projects such as artistic workshops for Bournemouth 200 and 'FACE', Arts, Fashion & Cultural events and various promotion of London West End clubs.

Kitty Tang, marketing manager at Green Hippo, comments: "Having Mercedes on the team is fantastic; she is full of youthful enthusiasm and ideas and will benefit the marketing team greatly. Her knowledge of all social networking channels means that she can help us broadcast our message to a wider audience. I am very excited and have high hopes for her."

Estelle Chung has been added as the new product design intern and will be working closely with the product team to further develop Hippotizer as well as look at new ideas for expanding the Green Hippo range of products.

Technical director Sean Westgate explains: "We are really excited to be able to collaborate with such a renowned institution as Brunel University and get some young talent to work here at Green Hippo. It broadens our skillset and at the same time gives young designers such as Estelle a unique chance to get stuck in the deep end. This is the ideal time to be at Green Hippo as we are constantly researching and developing new ideas in an industry that is extremely innovative and rapidly changing." Estelle is studying industrial design and technology at Brunel University in West London. She is a creative mind but also "a bit of an electronics and technical geek." She loves musicals and exhibitions, canoeing and ballroom dancing.

"I wanted to come and work at Green Hippo because it presented itself as a company unlike any other that was offering internships. Getting to work with products first hand is naturally the ideal situation for any young designer; but what Green Hippo offered was so much more than that. Designing a product is only a small fragment of the whole process, and Green Hippo gives me the opportunity not only to help design but to understand how it would be manufactured, marketed, and refined in accordance to the users. So I'm getting to learn a variation of skills in one internship and that's the most exciting thing of all."
