Fohhn ships new high performance LX-220 loudspeaker

Fohhn Audio is now shipping its new LX-220 high performance hybrid line source system, the latest addition to its popular Linea Series. The 7', four-way loudspeaker has been specially developed to provide the best possible sound quality for speech and live music applications in challenging acoustic environments where visual integration is also a requirement.

The LX-220 is equipped with 18 x 4" high performance, long excursion, neodymium speakers arranged in a column, plus three 1" compression drivers with horn-loaded Fohhn Waveguide system and self-resetting Intelligent Protection Circuit (IPC). This arrangement produces a very direct, cylindrical beam characteristic with sound pressure levels remaining more constant over distance, hence its suitability for use in larger rooms (80 - 130' in length). Unwanted reflections from the floor or ceiling can also be avoided, leading to greatly improved speech intelligibility in reverberant rooms. High resistance to feedback also makes the LX-220 ideal for use with complex microphone setups.

As with other Fohhn Linea Series systems, the LX-220's slim, elegant design enables it to be used in a range of architectural settings including worship venues, conference centers, and universities. The loudspeaker's high-quality aluminium housing also makes it suitable for outdoor use.

"Customers who have successfully used our compact LX-100 and LX-150 systems in various projects told us that they wished we had a similar system capable of covering larger rooms" says Uli Haug, Fohhn Audio's executive director of sales and marketing. "After a period of intensive development and feedback from engineers and installers, we're delighted to be delivering the result." The LX-220 and other new developments can be seen on the Fohhn Audio stand (8.0 K90) at Prolight + Sound, Frankfurt.
