Shure PSM900 at Cellular Field, Home of Chicago White Sox

Earlier this season, the Chicago White Sox installed Shure's PSM 900 wireless personal monitor and UHF-R wireless microphone systems at U.S. Cellular Field.

Upgrading from Shure PSM 700, the White Sox organization was looking to offer pre-game entertainers durable products that offer the highest-quality sound. Shure's market development team also provided counsel on FCC regulations, and worked with their audio team to help them operate within the newly-designated spectrum band.

"It's important in broadcasting audio to have a clear signal for monitoring so there's no delay or feedback problems," said Mark Jacobson, owner of Stadia Video Group, which provides audio and video engineering for the White Sox and Major League Baseball. "Given the staff's positive experience with previous Shure products, they wanted to stick with the brand because of the quality and reliability it provides. Everyone who has used the new system has complimented it and said it's one of the best they've worked with."

In the setting of a major league baseball stadium, wireless systems are uniquely positioned to capture all of the action from the game and beyond. The use of Shure products ensures that the crowds of more than 41,000 fans who pack U.S. Cellular Field at every home game and concert, as well as those watching from home, don't miss a thing. The PSM 900 is used for bands that play on and off the field before games; while the UHF-R wireless system is used as the go-to microphone for national anthem singers and roving team spokespeople who interact with fans between innings.

"As Chicagoans ourselves, we're especially proud to 'root for the home team,'" said Terri Hartman, director of marketing communications, Shure Americas. "We understand the needs of audio engineering professionals and know what goes into producing great audio. That the White Sox organization continues to rely on Shure's wireless personal monitoring systems is a testament to the product's audio quality, performance, and durability."
