Rosco Laboratories Announces Winner of the Rosco Gobo Design Contest

After receiving entries from around the world for The Rosco Gobo Design Contest, Rosco Laboratories announces the contest's winner - "Square Radiant" by Philip Treviño. This "dot grid gobo" was originally conceived by Treviño for a dance piece entitled DESCENTat Brian Brooks Moving Company. He was looking for gobos that would "cut through the haze" on stage in order to emphasize the body in relationship to the floor. Not finding a pattern to his liking, Treviño created "Square Radiant" by sandwiching two line gobos together - one vertical and one horizontal.

Lighting designer and contest judge Tapio Rosenius felt that its simple geometric pattern would allow for a variety of uses in an architectural lighting context, stating that "Geometric language like this is open enough for creative exploration."

In addition to "Square Radiant", Rosco announces that all contest finalist designs have been added to the catalog, totaling 13 new designs. The new designs are:

• "Sunflower Golden Part 1", "Sunflower Golden Part 2", "Sunflower Golden Whole" by Anna Baumgarte
• "Jimmies" by Bradley Clements
• "Crescent Isolation" by Brandon Stirling Baker
• "Luxor" by Durham Marenghi
• "Smooth Shutter Part 1", "Smooth Shutter Part 2", "Smooth Shutter Full Color" by Edgar Hildebrand
• "LED Street Light" by Jamie Roderick
• "Soft Transition" by Marco Miglioli
• "Retro Snowflakes" by Nick Diaz
