Car Painting Drive-Thru Event for IATSE Strike Vote Returns to Hollywood Locals 600 & 700

Hundreds of car owners will have their vehicles painted with pro-union messages in Hollywood on October 2, as voting by movie and TV workers is underway on a historic strike authorization in a fight for livable wages, reasonable working conditions, and a more secure economic future.

The parking lots of Locals 600, International Cinematographers Guild, and Local 700, Motion Picture Editors Guild, will be set up for drive-through painting of vehicles from 11am to 6pm PDT. The locals are the two largest of the 13 Hollywood locals represented by the IATSE. The Guilds are located across the street from one another at 7755 and 7715 Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Union representatives and workers will be on hand for interviews. A similar event at Local 700 on September 26 drew more than 400 vehicles.

"This is a perfect time to team with all of our brothers, sisters, and kin everywhere, to stand together and seek the changes to working conditions that we all deserve, and to make our industry healthy for years to come."

The results of the strike authorization vote are due October 4.

Local 700, IATSE, represents 8,500 workers mainly in the post-production crafts, including picture editors, sound and music editors, and re-recording mixers, as well as technical directors and story analysts.

Local 600, IATSE, represents approximately 9,000 members who work in film, television, and commercials as directors of photography, camera operators, digital imaging technicians, visual effects supervisors, still photographers, camera assistants, film loaders, all members of camera crews and publicists.
