Pete's Big TVs Supplies Jersey Boys Singapore and South Africa

Video equipment rental company Pete's Big TVs continues its long relationship with the Jersey Boys tour by supplying gear to Jersey Boys Singapore. The show opened November 22 at the Sands Theatre at The Marina Bay Sands. It runs 14 weeks into 2013.

Pete's Big TVs supplied LighthouseDataton Watchout system, and cameras. The same equipment will be transported to South Africa in April 2013 for its run there.

Since 2006, Pete's Big TVs has been supplying equipment to the national touring shows of the popular Broadway hit musical, including its current residences in Las Vegas and overseas in London, UK.

Pete's Big TVs president Peter Daniel was on hand in Singapore for preproduction and to help train a technician to run the video equipment.

"The production is virtually identical to all the Jersey Boys shows," Daniel said. However, for this Singapore show, Pete's Big TVs has updated the specified video equipment.

The musical tells the story of Franki Valli & The Four Seasons musical group -- their rise from poverty to becoming one of the most popular singing groups in history. Video screens make up a major part of the production in the telling of the tale on stage.

The video setup features three screens, all comprised of the new Lighthouse R6-B Black Face 6mm indoor LED panels. The panels were chosen for their high resolution for close viewing in the theatre. It offers a better contrast level, allowing for detailed content or dark colors to be shown at full effect. The LED panels are lightweight and are easily installed and integrated, said Daniel.

All the panels are the same height. The left and right screens are four panels high by three panels wide, while the middle screen is wider at four panels high by seven panels wide.

Daniel said that the updated screens got great response from the production team. Michael Clark, projection designer, and programmer Paul Vershbow raved about the Lighthouse video panels, saying they were "absolutely gorgeous."

The content -- the same in every show -- includes a mix of graphics, scenic photographic landscapes, and signage to enhance the storyline. It is fed through a Dataton Watchout system.

Watchout allows multiple video content channels to be combined together into a single timeline. It also allowed the video team to synchronize the pre-recorded video with the live camera feeds for the IMAG content.

Daniel said, "It's been a pleasure to work with the Jersey Boys production over the years. As they continue to entertain in new markets around the world, we will continue to supply them with the newest, most visually-enhancing equipment that we can for a successful run of performances."
