PHYTON Takes the Stage as Volux Lighting Returns to ULTRA 2026Volux Lighting recently returned to Miami Music Week for a second consecutive year, once again supporting the RESISTANCE Megastructure at Ultra Music Festival 2026. Following its large-scale fixture deployment in 2025, the company used this year's event to introduce its latest product in a live setting: the PHYTON hybrid-profile moving head. A total of 52 PHYTON fixtures were deployed upstage, marking the unit's first use in a full-scale festival environment. The installation placed the fixture in one of the industry's more demanding real-world applications, with continuous operation across three days of outdoor conditions. The RESISTANCE Megastructure remains a technically complex stage environment, hosting a rotating lineup of artists including Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati, Eric Prydz, and Amelie Lens. Lighting design for the structure was led by Evan Bloom, with guest lighting designers contributing throughout the weekend. Bloom noted the fixture's output and adaptability in use: "The PHYTON's ability to produce a consistent, full beam was impressive for its size. It performed alongside discharge fixtures in the same class and demonstrated that LED engines can deliver strong beam output. The ability to soften or texture the beam while maintaining intensity was also notable." The PHYTON is designed as a multi-function fixture, supporting beam, spot, and wash applications within a single unit. Its flexibility allowed it to adapt to varying visual requirements across multiple artists and programming styles throughout the event. The PHYTON is built around a 600W LED engine, delivering up to 32,000 lumens. It features a zoom range of 1.9 to 52 degrees, enabling both narrow beam effects and wide-field projection. The fixture includes CMY + CTO color mixing, a dedicated color wheel, high-CRI filters, and Volux's MINTRA minus-green adjustment system for camera and visual calibration. Full blackout framing shutters provide precise beam control across the zoom range. With an IP66 rating, the PHYTON is designed for outdoor use, offering protection against dust and high-pressure water. This represents an increase over the IP65 rating commonly found in comparable fixtures. Despite its output and feature set, the unit maintains a compact form factor optimized for speed, low noise, and deployment across touring, festival, and installation applications. Volux Lighting's return to ULTRA follows its 2025 deployment of more than 220 fixtures on the same stage, where units remained operational through severe weather conditions. The 2026 show builds on that foundation, shifting focus from large-scale presence to the introduction of new technology in a live environment. Production for the RESISTANCE Megastructure was provided by Tradewind Production and Gateway Production Services. "ULTRA is a stage with a strong reputation and a level of prestige that reflects the trust placed in every piece of equipment on it," says Zach Delzotti, CEO and lead product development at Volux. "To see PHYTON perform in that environment -- and meet those expectations -- reinforces both the fixture's capabilities and the faith production teams are placing in our technology."
