Nice Catch for SLX

SLX has provided the lighting equipment for award-winning actor, Mark Rylance's, show Nice Fish at The Harold Pinter Theatre in London for Sonia Friedman Productions.

The show which opened to critical acclaim last year on Broadway opened on November 25, 2016 at The Harold Pinter Theatre. With lighting by USA-based Japhy Weideman the show features a wide range of equipment including Martin by Harman Viper Performances, Martin Rush Pars, ETC Source Four Lustr2s, ETC Source Fours, and Look Solutions smoke machines. The show is being run from an ETC Gio control desk. For the London transfer there were a number of changes from the New York show; a large amount of the rig was swapped from Scrollers to ETC Source Four Lustr2s and Martin Rush Par2s for reliability and the additional options that these fixtures bring.

The show was put into The Harold Pinter Theatre by production electrician Adam Povey and his team. Programming was by Andi Davis.

The show has a couple of firsts for SLX, including the first West End show to do a pre-show preparation in SLX's new London facilities in Bermondsey, offering full production services just 30 minutes from the West End.

Commenting for the company Ben Payne, SLX's senior business development manager, said: "It's great to welcome my first Broadway transfer into our London pre-show prep area. For this show it demonstrates how SLX is moving forward in the theatre market and delivering a better service to all our customers. It was a pleasure to have Adam and his team in the warehouse for the four days and since the show moved to the theatre we've been able to back him up with support on our daily runs into the West End."

Povey added "To be able to carry out pre-show in London was a definite bonus for us. Not only because of the ease factor for my team but it also saves the company the cost of travel and hotels. It was the first time in recent history where I have had all the equipment ready for us to work on from day one and the team in the London branch were fantastic in the help and support that they provided to us during our time there."

The show runs at The Harold Pinter Theatre until mid-February. Nice Fish is one of the many shows that SLX is currently supplying, including The Bodyguard, The Last Tango, The Railway Children, and Stepping Out.
