SWISH's XR Hooper Brings Immersive Basketball Gaming to Life with BenQ Projection Technology

"We've pushed these projectors hard, including in outdoor settings exceeding 100 degrees, and they've been rock solid," says Romo.

SWISH XR, immersive gaming develop, has debuted XR Hooper, the first commercial extended reality (XR) basketball experience, as part of Evermore's Bay Games at Evermore Resort this past weekend. Unlike traditional VR, XR Hooper doesn't require goggles or headsets: players just step onto the court and are instantly immersed in a full-scale digital arena powered by BenQ projectors.

The system uses a projector array of four synchronized BenQ LH850ST projectors to create a 360-degree stadium atmosphere, transforming every shot into an interactive experience. From sinking baskets that launch virtual cannons, to battling zombies with basketballs on "Zombie Island," to racking up points in the SWISH Stadium challenge, XR Hooper gamifies basketball the way Topgolf reimagined golf.

"With the NBA season around the corner, XR Hooper signals a new way for fans and players alike to engage with the game, merging the thrill of basketball with the possibilities of XR," says Luis Romo, president and COO, SWISH XR. "The hardware is modular, rugged, and designed to set up quickly for events, from resorts to conferences to pro sports activations. We wanted to build something sleek, durable, and fun that could be installed anywhere."

"BenQ projectors play a central role in making the system possible," the company says. "Their ruggedness, color performance, and ease of use ensure consistent gameplay even in fast-moving, demanding environments."

"We've pushed these projectors hard, including in outdoor settings exceeding 100 degrees, and they've been rock solid," continues Romo.

"It's incredible to see the innovative ways companies like SWISH XR can bring sports to life virtually," says Bob Wudeck, senior director of business development, BenQ. "We're excited to see BenQ powering this next-generation basketball experience, proving how projection can transform any space into a dynamic, interactive game."

Evermore Orlando Resort is a first-of-its kind, modern luxury resort experience designed to offer large groups and families -- more ways to stay and play. It is the first venue to host XR Hooper, giving guests a chance to compete in games, win prizes, and be part of the debut of this new entertainment platform. Evermore showcases Orlando's only 20-acre white sand beach on the crystal-clear waters of Evermore Bay and enveloped within 2 Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses -- all conveniently located right next door to Walt Disney World.

"Our team is so excited to provide our guests this new way to play basketball," says Kimi Bengel, director of recreation, Evermore Resorts. "We are always looking for ways to enhance our guest experience and we felt the addition to Evermore Bay Games was the perfect fit."
