Doug Mekanik Joins A.C.T Lighting in Tech Support

A.C.T Lighting has expanded its team with the addition of Doug Mekanik as a technical support specialist. In his new role, Mekanik will support the entire range of A.C.T Lighting products, including MA Lighting, Clay Paky, LiteWare, and W-DMX, as well as train customers on the use and operation of those products.

"I'm excited to be joining A.C.T Lighting and begin training programmers on the grandMA2 console," says Mekanik. "It's going to be great to work closely with a whole new level of programmers and productions."

A graduate of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia with a degree in theatre design/technology, Mekanik has an extensive background in entertainment from designing and programming lighting in concert, dance, and theatrical atmospheres to providing technical support and training to lighting designers and programmers.

He previously worked as a lighting supervisor for a professional road house where he adapted tour-lighting requirements for the venue's 2,500-seat theatre as well as fulfilled the venue's in-house designer and programmer functions. He also launched his freelance programming career with several lighting rental companies throughout Virginia and with designers nationwide. Later, Mekanik accepted a position with TMB as the head Avolites console trainer in North America.

Mekanik's recent professional credits include the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, REO SpeedWagon's 2010 tour and providing the lighting design for a benefit concert by American Idol's Ruben Studdard.
