Super Bowl Halftime Show Wins Big at Creative Arts Emmy Awards

The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny, featured in the March 2026 issue of Lighting&Sound America, was the big winner at the first night of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, given out on September 4. The show took home seven trophies, including Best Variety Special (Live) and six technical awards.

In addition to the Best Variety Special nod (for NBC, Roc Nation, Rimas, Jesse Collins Entertainment, and DPS), it also won for Best Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming (Charm La'Donna and Karina Ortiz), Best Directing for a Variety Special (Hamish Hamilton), Best Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Special (Al Gurdon, Ben Green, and Harry Forster), Best Music Direction (Miguel Gandelman), Best Sound Mixing (Thomas Holmes), and Best Technical Direction and Camerawork for a Special (technical directors Rod Wardell and Eric Becker; director of photography Dylan Sanford.

Also nominated were Bruce Rodgers for Outstanding Production Design and the hairstyling team, led by Brian Steven Banks.

The production broke the record for Emmys won by a Super Bowl Halftime Show.
