Tivoli Lighting at Resorts World Las Vegas

The versatile RGB+W TivoTape was used for both direct, and high- and low-brightness, lighting to meet the specific demands of each area including the corridors, retails areas, and in the rooms.

Resorts World, on the Vegas strip is home to three hotels, all part of the Hilton brand, including Las Vegas Hilton, Conrad Las Vegas, and Crockfords Las Vegas. Completed in June 2021 on the former grounds of the old Stardust at a cost of $4.3 billion, it features more than 200,000 sq. ft. of LED displays, including a 100,000 sq.-ft. LED screen (one of the largest LED building displays in the US). Guests can choose from more than 40 food and beverage options.

With 117,000 sq. ft. of gaming space, including 1,400 slots, 117 table games, a dedicated poker room with 30 poker tables, high-limit areas, and a sportsbook, the venue is said to introduce the most technologically advanced casino and gaming operation. The 5,000-capacity concert and entertainment venue is outfitted to host a myriad of affairs -- from concerts to convention, corporate, and sporting events.

Approximately 70,000 sq. ft. of retail space, named The District, includes two levels of luxury and lifestyle brands. Additional shopping outlets can be found along Resorts World's "Spine," which serves as a walkway from the Las Vegas Strip to the casino.

Working to ensure that all spaces flowed together under a cohesive theme was the job of the Las Vegas-based architectural firm Steelman Partners and Shop 12, a full-service lighting and visual feature studio specializing in the creative design of performance venues and custom visual features. The firms used lighting to link the public and retail areas in the World East and West Towers and to guide and entertain guests.

Rep agency Alive Enterprises, LLC., Las Vegas, opted for Tivoli Lighting to deliver the solution. David Alayev, Alive Enterprises Inc., says, "The biggest challenge was to create a wide line of light which can house RGBW to be evenly lit, using three various applications, including surface-mounted, recessed, and suspended lighting."

Shop 12 Design, along with Bombard Electric LLC., specified that the lighting system meet a strict criterion. It had to be flexible for custom applications because of the wide range of public area activities throughout the property. With the tight construction schedule, the supplier had to guarantee product would arrive on schedule. And the lighting team had to provide detailed shop drawings and installation documentation plans, in addition to providing on-site support.

Based on their due diligence, Shop 12 specified RGB+W TivoTape, which has a tight-pitch 3,535 LED package with a two-step MacAdam ellipse for defined color consistency and reliability. The tape light features tight on-center LED spacing with a dedicated 3,000K chip for precise color, which is necessary for the lighting schemes at Resorts World. The low-voltage (24V DC) tape light is dimmable with DMX protocol and is compatible with Tivoli's CUEpro software. In addition, RGB+W TivoTape has an eXo shield covered for added protection against simple wipe-downs with no yellowing over time.

RGB+W TivoTape can be cut to 2.46" increments with 29 LEDs per foot for custom applications. The tape light produces up to 285 lumens per foot, while consuming only 4.4W per foot. It has factory-installed lead wires to ensure quality and comes with factory-applied 3M VHB adhesive tape on the back for quick application. The tape light has a 60,000-hour performance life and a five-year warranty.

The versatile RGB+W TivoTape was used for both direct, and high- and low-brightness, lighting to meet the specific demands of each area including the corridors, retails areas, and in the rooms.

"Tivoli also has the most robust power, DMX, and data gear, which allows for easy installation and addresses all possible field conditions," Alayev says. "In-house engineering, local US-based fabrication and manufacturing allowed for quick decision making, component procurement and shipping to stay on schedule."

Tony Milan, lead project manager for Tivoli Lighting, says, "An advantage of working with Tivoli is our adaptability of design. We worked closely with the architects and designers to provide custom solutions that enhanced the application in a timely fashion and met the budget requirements." To make the tight deadlines, every person in Tivoli's departments, from engineering and R&D to shipping, hustled to help keep this massive project on schedule and successful.

"In a word," Milan says, "the lighting is remarkable, thanks to the architects and lighting designers. It truly is beyond complimentary lighting. It is an immersive, emotional experience inspired by the intelligent and passionate marriage of architecture and light."

Alayev adds, "The response has been amazing. Everyone who has been to Resorts World loves how the lighting creates the atmosphere in the space. Using lighting which can be tuned to any color and any tone provided infinite possibilities for the client. It can be programmed to do anything and create various scenes through the year for guests to enjoy year-round."
