Alan Jacobi LVO Returns to Chair Closing Session of PLASA Rigging Conference 2012

A packed program of sessions is now confirmed for the third annual PLASA Rigging Conference at the Earls Court Conference Center in London September 10-11, 2012.

The PLASA Rigging Conference is delighted to confirm that the conference will close with "question time" hosted by Alan Jacobi LVO, managing director of Unusual Rigging.

Jacobi's involvement with the Rigging Conference dates back to its inception, as conference consultant Chris Higgs explains: "Alan Jacobi opened the inaugural PLASA Rigging Conference in 2010 in his inimitable style, but sadly wasn't able to join us last year. I was therefore delighted that he agreed immediately to host the closing Q&A session this year. Alan is an inspirational character to many of us and someone who I have no doubt will again ask insightful questions, act as question master, and summarize the conference for us."

Accompanied by the opening key note speech from American rigger Roy Bickel, Alan Jacobi's appearance endorses the conference's position as the leading international event specifically catering for the rigging industry.

Over the two day event, delegates will have the opportunity to hear speakers from across the globe. Dutch speakers Rinus Bakker and Roy Schilderman from the Association of Riggers and Grounders in Holland (ARGH) present "Common Practice?" while fellow countryman, Gert Jan Brouwer of Frontline Rigging hosts the "Getting Right to the Point" discussion forum.

"Understanding Dynamic Loads and What Really Happens When the Go Button is Pushed?" is presented by New Zealander, Nick Barnfield while joining Bickel to represent the USA is Robert Dean, who leads the session entitled "Performer Flying, Aerial Performance and Physical Theatre Rigging."

Emphasizing the conference's commitment to promoting safe working practices and standards are Flip Sandell from the HSE who asks: "A Shackle Falls to the Stage and Hits a Stagehand Causing Life Threatening Injuries: What Happens Now?" and Malcolm Richards who examines the pressing issues and challenges around "Ground Supported Structures."

In addition The Riggers' Forum will be held on the afternoon of Sunday, September 9 for those unable to attend the full conference. This is an informal opportunity to meet a panel of experts from across the industry, express your opinions, share your experiences, and to discuss the issues and challenges that face riggers today.

PLASA members or ETCP and NRC qualified persons benefit from a reduced ticket rate. Registration for delegates is live now and pre-booking is essential to guarantee your place; see the URL below.
