Black Box Pro Brings 1 SOUND to the Luxurious Manta LidoManta, a poolside Mediterranean experience in the heart of Sliema, Malta, opened this year with a 1 SOUND audio system. Black Box Pro, the AV integration company contracted for this project, signed on to be 1 SOUND's exclusive distributor in Malta earlier in 2023. This was its first project to include the New Jersey-based company's products. 1 SOUND says its products were chosen because of their high-fidelity sound, elegant aesthetic, and premium build quality, which includes an IP55 rating, resistance to saltwater, and grade 316 stainless-steel accessories and hardware. The outdoor pool lido deck features 23 Cannon C8s, mounted using C8 C-clamps and L-brackets in horizontal and vertical orientations. Certain speakers are paired with a nearby SUB12. At poolside, where no walls are available, 1 SOUND's proprietary Active Tube and C-Clamp create a vertical lift for a speaker and hidden cables. A custom mount that places the Active Tube in the ground contributes to a streamlined look. Nine SUB12s are distributed around the pool deck; however, the company says, because the Cannon C8's bandwidth runs down to 55Hz, subs are not missed when the C8 stands alone. For the booth, two C8s are mounted with C-Clamps straight into the desk, making an uptilt for the DJ. The C8's compression driver and proprietary horn element make the units highly suitable as DJ monitors because of their high-quality sound and power efficiency, the company says. For the open-concept restaurant, 13 C4is are mounted indoors, providing background music. These 4" high-fidelity coaxial loudspeakers are paired with five WSUB45s mounted to the wall using its C-Clamp kit. For the dining areas outside the restaurant, including a balcony patio, Cannon C6s are used with C-Clamp accessories for mounting.
