White Light and disguise Present the "Mixed Reality Tech Lab" in the Future Zone of IBC2018

White Light and disguise's "Mixed Reality Tech Lab" planned for IBC2018, September 13 - 18 in Amsterdam.

White Light will reveal the ground-breaking "Mixed Reality Tech Lab" in the Future Zone of IBC2018. Powered by the disguise media platform, this fully immersive production environment will showcase the latest developments in workflows for live broadcast.

Situated on stand 8.F40, White Light will use the Tech Lab to demonstrate the results of the company's R&D and the benefits for creating flexible small production spaces. There will also be discussions around how the industry can effectively adopt augmented, virtual and mixed reality workflows. Utilizing content by Malfmedia, the Lab will feature Mo-Sys StarTracker technology fitted to live cameras, feeding their positional data into the disguise media server and allowing content in the LED walls to be generated to the camera's perspective. Notch will be running natively on the disguise media server to show how live generative content can be used as a video "source" to create scalable content in real-time which can react to the environment and studio lighting.

The platform will also feature experts from White Light who have delivered complex live broadcasts such as the Discovery Eurosport Cube and ITV Sports studios at the FIFA World Cup in Russia. Andy Hook, White Light's technical solutions director, says "The Future Zone presentation provides an opportunity for visitors to gain hands-on experience with some of the ground-breaking solutions we've already implemented and discuss how the boundaries of technology can continue to be pushed."

As the key platform provider, disguise sits at the core of the workflow and allows all elements of the digital canvas including set, displays, lighting, and cameras, to be visualized and tracked in 3D space. The lab will also showcase how the content on the digital canvas can be dynamically updated and remove boundaries between traditional virtual and augmented graphic technologies when using the media server platform.

Ash Nehru, founder of disguise, comments: "At disguise our goal is to work closely with successful and visionary practitioners, such as White Light, to help develop the next generation of immersive experiences. We're coming from the live entertainment industry, which gives us a fresh approach to the challenges of the broadcast environment; we're really excited by the potential of these new technologies to create ever more compelling is experiences."
