Macula Debuts at LDI, Wins Product Award

Macula follows up to 384 moving head fixtures of any brand.

The Macula Remote Follow Spot System made its debut at the LDI trade show in Las Vegas, earning the Best Debuting Product - Lighting Control award. The honor was presented on December 9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and accepted by Macula CEO Morten Bremer.

Already in use on major international productions including Hamilton, The X-Factor, and Singapore National Day, Macula enters the North American market following the recent finalization of its licensing agreement with PRG.

Built on a fully flexible, manufacturer-independent control platform, Macula can operate any moving head on the intelligent fixture market. Its exclusive high-resolution fluid head delivers the familiar, organic feel of a traditional followspot while achieving a level of precision and smoothness unmatched by other remote systems, the company says. For many LDI visitors, this was the first opportunity to experience the fluid head in action, with several describing the intuitive movement as "feeling like playing a video game."

Macula also showcased its latest firmware update, version 0.99, which adds full support for PosiStageNet (PSN) transmission. This new capability enables Macula to send real-time positional data to any compatible device or software platform, ensuring seamless integration across advanced production environments.

"We are so excited to win this award and to be part of LDI," says Emil Krog, global sales manager for Macula. "Show traffic was consistent, and the feedback was incredibly positive. Macula seems to check all the boxes people have been looking for. With increasing restrictions on placing operators in ceilings, blocking audience seats, or modifying architecture, the demand for remote follow spots continues to grow. Now lighting designers can finally hang the fixture they want in the position they want. We can't wait to see what the future holds for Macula."
