URTA Plans Mixer, Grad-School Session at USITTAt USITT this week in Long Beach, California, URTA and United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE are holding a casual mixer to connect with graduate faculty recruiters, Local USA 829 union members, and students. It is happening on March 20, 3-4pm at 104 Lobby Space on the promenade side of the Long Beach Convention Center. Design/tech faculty from several top MFA programs will be available to answer questions, offer advice and feedback, and chat about graduate training, from what they look for in MFA candidates to what things students should be looking for in a program, and about the process of applying. Representatives from Local USA 829 will also be available to chat about union representation, services the local provides, and the process of applying for membership. In addition, URTA will present a session, Graduate Training: Finding Your "Why," on March 19, 11:30am-12:15pm, at the USITT Career Campus at Booth #639 on the show floor. Designed to demystify the graduate school process, the session will introduce graduate training opportunities, focusing on how to apply, tips on researching schools, and dealing with critical questions to consider before starting on the grad school journey. URTA will be at Booth #T7 on the USITT expo floor. Turn left when entering the main doors to the expo floor. It will be located along the front walkway (at the beginning of the 500/600 aisle.
