Registration Opens for National Design Portfolio ReviewThe annual National Design Portfolio Review is set for May 21 at the African Grove Theatre, on the fourth floor of New York University's Paulson Center, 38 West Houston Street in New York. Producers, directors, and designers from across the profession are invited to informally talk with and review the portfolios of recent graduates from the review's membership of 18 programs. The event, founded in the tradition of Ming's Clambake, the long-running design portfolio review run by the late scenic designer and educator Ming Cho Lee, serves as a significant launchpad for young design talents ready to start their careers. In a statement, the review's organizers say, "We're thrilled to invite you to a sit-down luncheon with the presenters! A quick note: By registering, you're agreeing to attend one of the portfolio review sessions -- either in the morning or the afternoon. It's all part of the fun!" Member theatre programs include The University of Tennessee/Knoxville, UCLA, Northwestern University, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Connecticut, University of Washington, Boston University, NYU, University of Cincinnati, University of Texas at Austin, Brooklyn College, Penn State, Ohio University, CalArts, University of Maryland, UC San Diego, SMU/Meadows School of the Arts, University of Missouri-Kansas City.
