Olivier Award Winners AnnouncedPaddington: The Musical, based on the adventures of the beloved children's literature character, swept the Olivier Awards last night. The Oliviers honor achievement in London's West End Theatre scene. Paddington took home awards for Best New Musical; Best Actor in a Musical (James Hameed and Arti Shah, who control the puppet title character); Best Supporting Actor in a Musical (Tom Edden, as Paddington's neighbor, Mr. Curry); Best Supporting Actress in a Musical (Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, as the taxidermist Millicent Clyde); Best Director (Luke Sheppard); Best Costume Design (Gabriella Slade for costumes and Tahra Zafar for design of Paddington); and Best Set Design (Tom Pye for scenery and Ash J. Woodward for projections). Other designer winners included Aideen Malone (lighting) and Roland Horvath (video) for a revival of the Stephen Sondheim-James Lapine musical Into the Woods, and Giles Thomas for the sound design of the thriller KENREX, which opens Off Broadway later this month. Other winners included recent Broadway successes Oh, Mary! (Best Entertainment or Comedy Pay) and Good Night, Oscar (Outstanding Musical Contribution).
