Joanie Lemercier and Juliette Bibasse Confirmed as Keynote Speakers at Spark 2027

What happens when technology becomes a medium for artistic expression? French artist duo Joanie Lemercier and Juliette Bibasse will explore the possibilities at Spark 2027, taking February 3-4 in Hall 8 at Fira de Barcelona.

Unfolding alongside ISE, which takes place February 2-5 in Barcelona, Spark connects professionals from broadcast, live events, film, gaming, design and immersive experiences to explore emerging technologies, exchange ideas and build new industry connections. Through immersive showcases, live demonstrations, expert insights and networking opportunities, Spark highlights how technologies such as AI, XR, virtual production and interactive media are creating new possibilities for content and experiences.

Under the theme "The Art of And," Spark examines how creative disciplines, technologies and production approaches come together to shape new forms of content and audience experiences. Lemercier and Bibasse embody this idea through their work, which combines light, projection and digital technology to transform spaces and challenge perceptions.

Their keynote follows Casa Batllo's annual mapping, an artistic initiative commissioned by Casa Batllo Contemporary, which will take place on January 30-31. Created by Lemercier and Bibasse in collaboration with Catalan singer and composer Maria Arnal, who will co-create the musical composition and participate in the vocal creation and live performance, the work will draw on light, large-scale projection and an original musical composition to offer a new interpretation of Gaudí's architectural masterpiece.

"The creative industries are evolving rapidly, with technology opening up new ways to tell stories, engage audiences and bring ideas to life. But it is the people who explore the possibilities and push creative boundaries who drive this progress," says Mike Blackman, managing director, Integrated Systems Events. "Spark provides a platform for these communities to connect, exchange ideas and inspire one another. Lemercier and Bibasse bring a particularly compelling perspective on the relationship between art and technology, and we are delighted to have them join the program."

Based in Brussels, Lemercier and Bibasse have collaborated for more than15 years. Their practice explores how light, geometry and technology can transform spaces and reveal new ways of perceiving the natural world. Lemercier is a pioneer of architectural video mapping and co-founded the AntiVJ collective in 2006, helping establish projection as an artistic medium. Inspired by the forms and patterns of nature, his work explores the relationship between light, technology and perception. Bibasse brings complementary expertise in artistic direction and curatorial practice, connecting artists, ideas and audiences through ambitious interdisciplinary projects.

The Casa Batllo mapping is part of the building's annual free public art event, now in its sixth edition. The initiative invites artists to create original works inspired by Gaudí's architectural vision. Previous editions have featured artists including Refik Anadol, Sofia Crespo, Quayola and United Visual Artists. Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) is a principal sponsor of the Casa Batllo mapping.

The keynote by Joanie Lemercier and Juliette Bibasse is scheduled for February 3.

The Spark content program is built around two stages. Spark Arena hosts keynotes and in-depth conversations with leading thinkers and practitioners exploring developments in creativity, content and technology. Spark Forum offers a free-to-attend program focused on practical insights, emerging tools and new approaches from across the creative and technology communities.
