Jeff Award Winners Announced

The Goodman Theatre revival of The Who's Tommy and Teatro Vista's production of The Dream King were highly popular attractions at the Joseph Jefferson Awards. The awards, which celebrate achievement in Chicago's professional theatre community, were held on October 2, with Tommy taking nine nods and The Dream King garnering eight.

In the large theatre category, Andrew Boyce won for Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, staged by Drury Lane Productions, in a tie with Jeffrey D. Kmiec for Into the Woods produced by Paramount Theatre. Bill Morey was cited for the costume design of Cabaret at Porchlight Music Theatre. Lighting designer Amanda Zieve and sound designer Gareth Owen took awards for The Who's Tommy. In the Midsize Theatre category, Joe Schermoly won for The Dream King. Robert Kuhn was awarded for Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, produced by Mercury Theatre Chicago. Lighting designer Conchita Avitia and sound designer Matthew Chapman both won for The Dream King. There was one projection design winner: Peter Nigrini, for The Who's Tommy.
