OSRAM Expands SIRIUS HRI Series with Improved Galaxy Variantsams OSRAM is launching two new variants of the SIRIUS HRI series for entertainment lighting. The compact Galaxy 250 and 20D short-arc HID lamps combine brightness, longer service life, and performance. Precise 2-degree beams and up to 6,000 hours or 8,000 hours of runtime make them well-suited for festivals, tours, and arenas. From festivals to touring productions, lighting designers rely on powerful and precise short-arc HID lamps to illuminate entertainment shows. With the new SIRIUS HRI Galaxy 250 and 20D, ams OSRAM is now launching two new variants designed to set new standards, particularly in terms of service life. The SIRIUS HRI Galaxy 250 is designed for up to 6,000 hours of typical entertainment use. The SIRIUS HRI Galaxy 20D with 230W, specially designed for OEMs, shines for up to 8,000 hours. This is made possible by an improved electrode and arc design in combination with a more stable arc geometry and compatibility with digital lamp drivers. Thanks to the extended service life, the lights also need to be replaced less often, the company says. In combination with their short arc distance, the new products can achieve sharp beam angles of only 2 degrees with the support of precise optical systems. This makes such short-arc HID lamps well-suited for high-contrast visual effects that are visible even over long distances and in strong ambient light. The small, powerful light source enables optical control -- a feature that is necessary to produce sharply defined edges and minimal color fringing in beam and hybrid spotlights. Thanks to their compact design, short-arc HID lamps like the SIRIUS HRI Galaxy are said to be easy to integrate into beam and hybrid fixtures and are compatible with a broad range of manufacturers. The resulting compact construction makes them suitable for touring applications and fast setups. In operation they impress with simple maintenance: the lamps can be quickly replaced on site, the service infrastructure is well established, and a single lamp replacement achieves a device lifetime comparable to LEDs -- with lower costs, higher luminous intensity, and better service availability. The new product highlights of the SIRIUS HRI series will be presented to an international industry audience for the first time at this year's LDI Show in Las Vegas.
