Elation Launches Platinum Spot 15R Pro

Elation is introducing the highest-output unit yet in its Platinum Series. Designed for larger venues and productions, the new CMY color-mixing Platinum Spot 15R Pro moving head offers brightness comparable to 700W and even 1,200W fixtures, even though it is only about one-third the size of a conventional 700W moving head and it draws just one-quarter of the power.

The output-to-size/energy use ratio is the result of the new, more powerful 300W Philips MSD Platinum 15R lamp, which brings all the advantages of Platinum technology to concert/arena-scale fixtures.

"Lighting designers working on larger projects can now enjoy all the benefits of our revolutionary Platinum fixtures," said Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional. "You really have to see the Platinum Spot 15R Pro to believe that a fixture so compact can fill a theater, concert hall or arena with 1,200W-like output -- and do it on such low electricity usage.

"This little moving head is totally in the 'big leagues' when it comes to advanced professional features, too," Loader added. "It offers CMY color-mixing, a built-in wireless DMX receiver, Variable Zoom and much, much more."

Just about any feature a designer could ask for can be found on the Platinum Spot 15R Pro. With its professional 16-bit CMY color-mixing system, users can create a palette of rich custom colors to meet any design need. For even more visual possibilities, there are eight dichroic colors and 22 gobos (eight rotating and replaceable), a three-facet rotating prism and strobe effect. A variable Frost Filter gives the Platinum Spot 15R Pro the versatility to function as a hybrid spot-wash fixture, simply by applying frost to diffuse the hard-edge beam. A motorized iris, motorized focus and 0-100% mechanical dimmer put even more control in the user's hands. And the fixture's variable zoom gives it the flexibility to move in and out from a 9-27-degree beam angle.

Another premium feature is a built-in Elation EWDMX wireless DMX receiver. When used with an Elation EWDMXT wireless transmitter (sold separately), the fixture can receive DMX signals wirelessly from up to 3,000' away. Not only does this eliminate the time and labor involved in running cable, but the unit's wireless capability combined with its small size make the Platinum Spot 15R Pro the perfect solution for use in tight spaces where an extremely bright output is required.

With a pan of 540 degrees /630 degrees and tilt of 265 degrees the Platinum Spot 15R Pro provides great area coverage, too,. The company says. It can run in three different DMX channel modes, the standard being 23 channels. At 16', it emits a brightness of 10,500 lux/975 foot-candles.

Despite its high output, the Platinum Spot 15R Pro measures just 16.1"L x 16.5"W x 21.3"H and weighs 48.9 lbs./22.2 kg.
