DiGiCo and Bose Shine for "Sunset Sounds" in Brooklyn

The Digico S21 desk and Bose ShowMatch DeltaQ line array system in place for Brooklyn's "Sunset Sounds" concert series at Industry City.

This summer, New York's famed Brooklyn Bowl has teamed up with Industry City to create "Sunset Sounds," a series of free and ticketed events featuring eclectic lineups and outdoor family concerts from June 7th through September 23rd. The backdrop for the new outdoor concert venue at Industry City near Brooklyn's waterfront comprises six million square feet of modernized and renovated warehouse structures blending traditional manufacturing and innovation economy, prototyping, software coding, and digital publishing companies, among many other businesses.

Brooklyn Bowl's "Sunset Sounds" at Industry City, presented by Bose, is the musical component of Industry City's Summer Spree, a collection of live music, courtyard movies, and dance parties, games, and eateries highlighting the best of New York City in the summer, all taking place in the city's thriving Sunset Park district.

For the series, Firehouse Productions of nearby Red Hook, New York, supplied a compact DiGiCo S21 digital console, which features the same FPGA algorithms as the industry-standard SD7, as well as a mic pre design lifted from the 192kHz SD-Rack. Firehouse's Tom Clark coordinated the system integration project and temporary installation of the concert system.

"The S21 is an ideal complement to our new Bose ShowMatch DeltaQ compact line array speaker system," notes Bose Professional director of global concert and rental business David Scheirman. "Digico was specifically requested by the event technical team, and Firehouse agreed that the new S21 was a perfect fit for the project due to its compact footprint, high-end touring console features and audio quality."

With front-of-house engineer Dave Fine-Firesheets in charge of the mix, numerous Brooklyn-based rock, pop, and funk acts like Swift Technique, Mike Gannon Band, Sophistafunk, and Madaila -- as well as their fans -- are all enjoying a first-rate concert experience at Industry City this summer.
