d3 Technologies Takes Home Best Debuting Product for Projection at Successful LDI

d3 Technologies's 4x4 Pro won the Best Debutiing Product for Projection at DLI2014.

d3 Technologies has returned from a highly successful Live Design International (LDI), held November 17 - 23, in Las Vegas. Next to demonstrating d3's Dynamic Blend and BlackTrax' realtime motion tracking solution as well as their new pro range, d3 Technologies secured the much-coveted award for Best Debuting Product in the Projection category.

Starting the Las Vegas activities on an educational note, d3 Technologies director Ash Nehru took part in the Projection Master Classes November 18 - 19 as a panel speaker on Marvel Universe LIVE!. Moderated by Bob Bonniol, the panel included Gil Densham, president of BlackTrax, Lisa Telles from Antfarm, associate designer Pablo Molina, and show director Shanda Sawyer.

Nehru also joined the stage the second day of the classes for a panel on the BIG picture discussing innovative and large-scale event technologies, whilst the rest of the d3 team were available for product demonstrations during the breaks on both days.

Over at the d3 booth on the show floor, d3 Technologies demonstrated their upcoming software feature Dynamic Blend, which allows for seamless projections on moving objects using multiple projectors -- in this case three of Barco's high res collaboration CRWQ were used.

The moving object was tracked through an integration with realtime motion tracking system BlackTrax by CAST BlackTrax Ltd. As such d3 was able to effectively demonstrate how projection designers now have the freedom to move, and are no longer tied to static objects. A Barco RLM W14 was used to present the d3 user interface on a projection screen, further emphasizing the realtime nature of the demonstration.

Next to the tracking and Dynamic Edge demo, where visitors could interact with projection objects, d3 debuted their new hardware range consisting of the d3 4x4pro and d3 4x2pro. These two media servers come with d3 software installed, and are built to drive the most demanding shows.

The company says, to top off an already excellent show, d3 Technologies was awarded the Best Debuting Product in the Projection category during the LDI Awards ceremony for their d3 4x4pro system. D3's in-built projection toolkit includes features such as QuickCal, MultiEdit, and FootPrints. With the upcoming Dynamic Blend feature, projection mapping will be easier than ever with d3.

d3 Technologies would like to thank CAST BlackTrax Ltd, Barco N.V., and WorldStage for their support during LDI2014.
