Stage|Set|Scenery 2017 Announces Call for Papers

Event industry professionals now have a unique opportunity to actively shape four formats at the international trade show and the international conference for theatre, film, and event technology at Stage|Set|Scenery. They are currently invited to submit their entries for papers at the International Stage Technology Conference, the Safety in Action stage, the Anatomical Theatre, the LightLab, and the SoundLab. The deadline for applications is February 15, 2017.

Taking place for the second time, the Weltenbauer.Awards will be presented at Stage|Set|Scenery on June 20, 2017. With this industry award Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft e.V. (DTHG) honors innovative and original stage technology solutions that have helped to realize the artistic concept of a theatre or show production in a particularly impressive manner. Any theatre, musical, show, TV, or event production which has developed or made use of stage technology solutions can enter the Weltenbauer Awards. Applications must be submitted no later than February 28, 2017.

Applications are also invited for the Weltenbauer Youngsters.Awards, which are being presented by Messe Berlin and DTHG for the first time. The deadline here is also February 28, 2017. 150 years ago the opera Roméo et Juliette was first performed by Charles Gounod on April 27, 1867. It is with that event in mind that an assignment will be given to the contestants. Trainees, students (ranging from schools to vocational and higher education) from any country specialiing in the theatre, films, and event technology are invited to submit their designs and works on the subject of Romeo and Juliet. These may be individual or team works focusing on stage design, the theatre stage, costumes, decoration, set design, make-up, lighting concepts, videos, or audio installations. The ten best works will be exhibited on a special display area in Hall 23 and the entrants will have an opportunity to present them at the Anatomical Theatre June 21, 2017 at the show.
